Pleasants County Humane Society

The goal of the Pleasants County Animal Control Facility is to find forever homes for as many of our shelter animals as possible. Please contact our facility for more information.

Ways You Can Help

We are a very small shelter with very little staffing and as such, we rely heavily upon the generosity of our volunteers.  A few of the ways you can help include.

  • Taking pictures of dogs and cats

  • Administrative help reviewing applications

  • Performing vet checks

  • Grooming dogs

  • Newsletter help

  • Writing thank you notes

  • Visiting and walking dogs 

  • Fundraising/event coordination

  • Transport coordinators

  • Foster coordinators

  • Helping clean and feed.

  • Doing Laundry

  • Taking animals to outside adoption events

  • Taking animals to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and schools.

  • Driving animals to the vet or transporting to rescue

  • Assisting in the office, welcoming the public, and assisting them find the right pet

  • Grounds-keeping, mowing, and landscaping

  • Shelter repairs and cleaning
